Conversations With My Agent

By Rob Long

Jim Sez:

This one is more for the flavor of life than anything else. Rob Long is a gifted guy, wrote for Cheers (among other things) and did this book back in 1998. I haven't read it in a long time, but I remember being struck both by the wonderful humor of the writing (no surprise) and the nature of his relationship to his agent, believe it or not.

It sounded like a humorous fabrication then. I'm much less certain now.

Seriously, there aren't many good good books about being a screenwriter, but this one is fast and interesting. Check it out.

Hey Fellas,

Just found your podcast and I love it so far. Working now, on my second serious writing/ directing project (an animated, narrative, music video), I am glad to have found your podcast to listen to while I am cranking out images 18 hours a day in order to hit the deadline. Thanks for remembering everyone behind you in this pursuit.

I just finished 'On Writing' by Stephen King. Excellent. Its humble and approached without pretense. Really helps to drive you as a writer and think about writing from his unique perspective.

Thanks again,
Chris Oatley

Hey Guys -- loving the podcast --

I'm a fellow Minnesotan (from down in Northfield) and screenwriter. Hoping you can stop by and check out my stuff some time.

Thanks "A Million"
